Ahhhh. IMO that captures Sylt/Westerland perfectly.

A boring and square place where a scoop of ice costs 4 Euros and they constantly have to dig some sand on the shores so that the island doesn't disappear.

I have only been there once and I do NOT feel the urge to go back there again tbh.

The highlight of the whole trip was the "Autozug" TO Sylt. We were driving with a convertible (open of course) and in the middle of the trip it started to rain!   

For those who have no idea what I am talking about, you park your car on one of those and can stay inside.

A few years ago when my family and i do vacation there (btw the beach is awesome) we took also those train (bec thats the only way to reach the island by car)

Good that you don't close the roof due to the fact:

As we drive with the train my engine was off (no sensless enviorment polution  )
My daughter plays the whole time with the electrical window and the radio was playing.
As we finally arrived at Westerland main station (after 50 min), i want to start the engine, and guess what nothing happend         
Some guys behind me became nervous (i cost them vacation time) and start to honk there horns.
Needless to say, that nobody get out of his car and help me  
So my wife try to push it but it was very hard bec of some unevennesses on the ground.
Finally a guy from the train company help us to push the car from the train.
A blessing in disguise was that we where also like Hans on top of the train and there was a ramp down to the street.
This ramp was fortunately long enough to restart the engine   

On the way back i don't turn off the engine
