"More than 130 prominent Scottish business leaders have signed an open letter warning that the case for Scottish independence has not been made."

Among them:
"chief executives from famous high street names including the bank HSBC"

Dead simple:
If people like that say you should vote NO... then every decent and halfway intelligent Scot should know the only choice can be YES to independence.

Well, well, well.
I read about the topic a bit yesterday evening and must say that it's insanely interesting.
When you dig a little deeper and look for sources beside the mainstream media, you will find out that it's not really about bad, bad, bad "Scottish Nationalism".

It's about people who want to and demand the right to have an actual saying in the matters that concern them and not having some mediocre banker's puppet in London make decisions FOR them.

Right wing twats in England, indoctrinated by such quality journalism like "Daily Mail" or "Daily Mirror", of course won't see that. They will probably cling on to the idea of "Great Britain". Wake up. Your country for more than 50 years now is nothing more than a vicarious agent for the United States of America.... your former colony. LMAO!  Razz

Oh, and since it is always nice to see an intelligent, well articulated woman who hasn't boozed her brains out and can count to 3 without prompting, have a look at this:

Video is obviously a repost of the Original Poster... doesn't matter... intelligence is sexy and sexyness can be reposted anytime!

Another interesting article on the topic:
http://www.counterpunch.org/2014/03/12/an-interview-with-tariq-ali-on-why-scottish-independence-matters/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=an-interview-with-tariq-ali-on-why-scottish-independence-matters

Some appetizers:

On Scottish Nationalism:
"Their [New Labour] internationalism essentially means subordinating the entire British state to the interests of the United States.  They have made Britain into a vassal state: on Iraq, on Afghanistan, on various other things [...] an independent Scotland, a small state, has far more possibilities of real, genuine internationalism.  That means establishing direct links with many countries and peoples in the world.
[...]
the Scottish people have a democratic right to determine their own future.  This is the first time they’ve been asked to actually vote on that. The Union that was pushed through opportunism, corruption, and bribery in 1707 was not the result of a democratic vote, as we know full well. [...] The idea that one can’t disagree with the SNP if one supports independence is just absurd."

Dismantling the British state:
"I mean that the British state, created by the Union in the 18th century, has effectively been unchallenged.  The only written aspect of the British constitution is the so-called Treaty of Union of 1707.  Now, what the Scottish people are voting for, if, as I hope, they do vote yes, then the British state as it exists is dismantled, full stop."

Isolation of Scotland:
"I would say Scotland is isolated now, by being part of Britain. Britain isn’t, but Scotland certainly is [...] Why should Scotland be dependent on Britain to mediate its relationships with countries in Asia, or Africa?  So I think Scots have to look abroad.  The one institution that will have to be created, amongst the new ones, will be a Foreign Office, and overseas trade, that is very important.

So the "Royal Bank of Scotland" and other Financial institutions threaten to leave the country and go to England, if the Scots don't vote the "right" way.

http://money.cnn.com/2014/09/11/news/economy/scotland-independence-banks/

Remember:
Those were the guys who were bailed out with astronomical sums of tax payers money after the Financial crisis... and never paid back a penny. Razz

What I do not quite understand:
Are they really threatening the Scots to leave Scotland or rather the English to come to England?

Maybe that's why David Cameron almost broke out in tears when he begged the Scots to stay in the Union? Razz

It's done.

Aye: ~45%
No  : ~55%

That was close.

Yeah.
Project "Fear Mongering" was successful. Joseph G. would have been proud.

But this is far from being over... What a Face

Told you it's not over. Cool

http://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/thousands-set-for-yes-rallies-as-snp-members-up-1-3549648

Interesting to read is also who voted for or against.
http://blogs.ft.com/ftdata/2014/09/19/scottish-referendum-who-voted-which-way/

Basically (and not surprisingly) those who are interested in the Status Quo are elder people and High Earners. The reason for that is clear.
Elder people most probably obtain their information primarily from the corporate media, which exposed them to "Project Fearmongering". Additionally elder people, although they have not much left of it, are usually more afraid of the futurethan young people. Very Happy
High Earners of course are not interested in a possible shifting of wealth. Therefore they stick to vote for the established powers who granted them their wealth. Pretty obvious.

Just wait.
The elders will be taken care of by natureand the High Earners will ultimatively divide into two groups, being the "Ultra High Earners" and the "Not so High Earners". Latter of them will see the mistake they made. Very Happy
